GUIDE TO THE JAPANESE LANGUAGE COURSES
(2010 JULY SEMESTER)

 

1. Duration:

 4 July ~ 9 December, 2010
*There will be no lessons during Ramadan (August 8 ~ September12) and Eid Al-Adha(November 14 ~19)

 

2-Course details

 

a-Intermediate Japanese Course  Level 7

(twice / week)
 

Every Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Prerequisite: Completion of a Japanese Language Beginner’s Course.
The purpose of this course is to prepare the participants for the intermediate level. As well as revising what was learned in the Beginner’s Level, we will study the grammar, vocabulary, expressions and kanji necessary for advancing to the intermediate level.   
Textbook: "Chukyu E Ikou"

b-Intermediate Japanese Course  Level 8

(twice / week)

 

Every Sunday and Wednesday, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Prerequisite: Those who have previously studied the textbook "Chukyu E Ikou".
The purpose of this course is to raise the learners’ Japanese language proficiency in general by building upon the basis of what was learned in the textbook "Chukyu E Ikou", and increasing the learners’ repertoire of grammar, vocabulary and expressions. There will be exercises on listening, reading and writing about a certain theme, in order to raise the learner’s Japanese communication skills.
Textbook: "BUNKA CHUKYU NIHONGO 1"     Lesson 1 – Lesson 4

c- Intermediate Japanese Course 
Level 9

(twice / week)
 

Every Monday and wednesday, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Prerequisite: Completion of the Intermediate Japanese Course  Level 8
The purpose of this course is increasing the learners’ repertoire of grammar, vocabulary and expressions. There will be exercises on listening, reading and writing about a certain theme, in order to raise the learner’s Japanese communication skills.
Textbook: "BUNKA CHUKYU NIHONGO 1"     Lesson 5 – Lesson 8

 

d- Advanced Japanese Course 
Level 10

(once / week)
 

Every Tuesday, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Prerequisite: Passing Level 2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test “JLPT” or attainment equal to or higher than Level 2 of the JLPT.
The aim of this course is to improve the students’ Japanese language skills through various tasks and activities, such as reading newspapers, watching television programs, holding discussions, and writing reports & essays on different subjects.
Material: Newspaper, magazines, essays and television programs. 

 

   
*Current University students majoring in Japanese can register for the Advanced Course only.

3. Course Fees:

① Intermediate Japanese Course( Level 7 )       480 LE   (Including Textbook)
② Intermediate Japanese Course( Level 8 )       540 LE   (Including Textbook)
③ Intermediate Japanese Course( Level 9 )       320LE
④ Advanced Japanese Course ( Level 10 )        200 LE

     

* The price of the textbook will be deducted from the above fees for the applicants who already own the original textbook. However, as this term we will not acknowledge any copied textbooks at all, we ask for your understanding and cooperation. 

 

4. How to apply

* There is another way to apply for those who are taking Intermediate or Advanced Japanese
Courses now.

Sunday, May 2 ~ Thursday, May 27, 2010    8:30am~6:00pm
Get an Application Form at the entrance (Price per Form: 5 L.E.).Fill it in and then
submit it with two photos.
                     *Monday, May 3 is our day-off
            
  Step2   Placement Test ( see “5.Placement Test”)
                   Sunday, May 30, 2010    6:30pm~8:00pm
                   
  Step3   Registration & Payment of course fees
                   Tuesday, June 1 ~ Thursday, June 10, 2010    8:30am~6:00pm
                   We will announce the results of the Placement Test at the entrance.
Those who passed theexam can register and pay the course fees.

5. Placement Test:

 

Date: Sunday, May 30, 2010
Time: 6:30 ~ 8:00 pm
Venue: Classroom A (3F, Cairo Center Bldg., Garden City)

* Every applicant must bring pencils (or mechanical pencils) and an eraser. We will not lend them.
* Depending on the Placement Test results, Applicants may not be able to enter the Course they want.                           
* Every applicant must take this exam except for the following:
   ・Those who have completed Level-6 of the Japan Foundation Japanese Language Beginner’s
Course in May 2010.

   ・Those who took the Japan Foundation Advanced Japanese Course during the previous year
