About Kōbō Abe:

He is a Japanese writer, playwright and photographer who was born in 1924 in Tokyo. His first novel was “The Road Sign at the End of the Street” which established his reputation. He won “Akutagawa Prize” in 1951. In 1971, he founded an acting studio in Tokyo, known as the Abe Studio.
